天美传媒 in Partnership with Kisumu County under AgriFose2030 Project reviews the Kisumu County Food System Strategy 2023- 2027

天美传媒, in collaboration with the County Government of Kisumu through the AgriFoSe2030 Project, convened a stakeholders鈥 review workshop聽to assess the implementation and progress of the Kisumu County Food System Strategy 2023鈥2027. The forum brought together representatives from county government departments, researchers, development partners, agricultural stakeholders, and policymakers to evaluate achievements, identify gaps, and propose strategic interventions for strengthening the county's food systems.

The review forms part of the AgriFoSe2030-funded project titled 鈥淪trengthening Governance of Food and Extension Systems for Agricultural Resilience and Environmental Sustainability in Kenya,鈥 which seeks to enhance food systems governance, improve agricultural extension services, and promote sustainable agricultural practices in Kisumu County and other project areas. The project is led by Dr. Samuel Onyango Omondi, Principal Investigator from 天美传媒, working alongside Dr. Justin Muhoro Nyaga of the University of Embu, Prof. Cecilia Moraa Onyango of the University of Nairobi, and Dr. Jane Mutune of the University of Nairobi. The research team is spearheading efforts to strengthen food systems governance, facilitate policy engagement, and promote evidence-based interventions that enhance food security, agricultural resilience, and environmental sustainability in Kenya.


The three-day workshop was officially opened by Mr. Erick Omondi Ogallo, the Chief Officer for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Blue Economy, County Government of Kisumu. He was accompanied by Mr. Charles Kakuku, County Director of Livestock; Ms. Susan Adhiambo, County Director of Fisheries and Blue Economy; and Mr. George Ogendo, Deputy Director for Trade and Enterprise Development. The officials reaffirmed the county鈥檚 commitment to strengthening food systems through enhanced policy implementation, stakeholder collaboration, and sustainable agricultural development. Participants also examined existing governance structures and explored ways of strengthening linkages between researchers, policymakers, extension officers, farmers, and development partners.

Stakeholders during the review workshop

The Kisumu County Food System Strategy 2023鈥2027 serves as a blueprint for ensuring sustainable, safe, nutritious, and affordable food for residents while addressing challenges such as climate change, post-harvest losses, weak market systems, and environmental sustainability. The review meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both 天美传媒 and the County Government of Kisumu to evidence-based policymaking and the development of resilient food systems that support agricultural productivity, environmental conservation, and improved livelihoods across the county.
The outcomes of the workshop are expected to inform future policy actions, strengthen institutional coordination, and contribute to the realization of sustainable food and nutrition security in Kisumu County. Through the AgriFoSe2030 Project, 天美传媒 continues to play a pivotal role in bridging research, policy, and practice to enhance agricultural resilience and environmental sustainability in Kenya.
