天美传媒 Computing and Informatics Students Association (MUCISA) Hackathon 2025: Smart Campus Solutions at 天美传媒
The 天美传媒 Computing and Informatics Students Association (MUCISA), in collaboration with the Maseno Centre for Applied Artificial Intelligence (MCAAI), hosted a vibrant hackathon focused on Smart Campus Solutions. The event was guided by MUCISA鈥檚 motto, "Embracing Technology for Innovators" and centred around three key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Quality Education (SDG 4), Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure (SDG 9), and Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10)聽on 8th March 2025. This聽event fostered interdisciplinary collaboration,聽with participants from various faculties uniting to develop cutting-edge solutions for a smarter聽campus.聽Graced by esteemed faculty members from the School of Computing and Informatics and聽panel constituted by MCAAI & Kencorpus researchers, postgraduate students and industry聽leaders from Amazon Networks, Web3 Clubs, ICT Authority, Codevertex and Meliora. The聽hackathon provided an enriching platform for students to showcase their creativity and聽problem-solving skills.
The hackathon showcased a diverse range of innovative projects, each leveraging cutting-edge technology for theme oriented solution. The award winning projects were:

Kazi Near:聽A decentralized job marketplace on the NEAR blockchain, connecting freelancers聽聽and employers with secure, transparent smart contract payments. By using NEAR tokens, it reduces fraud, delays and transaction fees, enabling global job access.聽
OpinionMiner:聽An AI-powered sentiment analysis tool that helps organizations understand public opinion from social media, reviews and surveys. Using advanced models like BERT. It delivers real-time sentiment insights, making data-driven decision-making accessible to businesses, researchers and institutions.
AI Farm Assistant: An AI-powered tool for Kenyan farmers, offering weather forecasts, crop聽recommendations, disease detection and instant chatbot support. With a web app, USSD access聽and Kiswahili/English support, it connects farmers to buyers, suppliers and financial aid.聽
The IndabaX Kenya Machine Learning Community announced that 天美传媒 will host the next IndabaX event, urging both students and faculty to actively attend and participate in this informative machine learning conference.
